Faff and some of her furry friends...

Hi! My name is Stephani Locket and I am a sucker for animals! As a young adult I had 2 Persian cats- Silly and Ashes-they were litter-mates and I couldn't stand the idea of separating them - so they both came home with me....and my love affair with fuzzy furry creatures began!

For over twelve years I have been involved in dog rescue in the DC metro area. At first, the fostering was a bit sporadic as we had 2 dogs - Guinness, the best chocolate lab/grizzly bear ever, and Zoe, my first Golden Retriever. After my Zoe died from cancer too young, we began working with a Golden Retriever rescue quite frequently and found it to be extremely fun, challenging and always rewarding.

Over the years, we always struggled with what to do with the dogs if we were taking a vacation that they just couldn't participate in....and from that search and my love of cats and dogs - the idea of Faff's Furry Friends took hold!

I provide a loving, caring home away from home for your four legged furry family member while you need to be away for work or pleasure.  My goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, home atmosphere - so you feel confident in leaving your pet and your pet feels like he or she is on their own little adventure in my home - with access to a fenced in back yard for outdoor play, morning and evening walks, and once tired out -  access to the comfy chairs and sofa (plus a few dogs beds), free reign in the house and if desired- a spot on the bed at night-just like at home!

Faff's Furry Friends looks forward to meeting you and your furry four-legged family member!

To understand Faff's Furry Friends, you really have to get to know its owner, Stephani.

The roots of our mission can all be traced back to a trip to Bethany Beach back in 1999. Steph had rented a house there that didn't allow pets. With most of her friends unavailable to look after her beloved golden, Zoe,  she had a choice to make: A) leave Zoe with a local boarding group or B) not go on the trip. She chose A.

Leaving Zoe behind, especially in a place that was SO different from her home, was really difficult. Years later, as her gaggle of goldens grew in quantity and in age, it became even more important to have a safe, familiar place for the dogs to stay. Instead of always traveling with the dogs, Steph would have people come stay at the house.

She started Faff's Furry Friends so she could offer that same sense of comfort and nurturing for your pet.

And why "Faff"? Faff is what Steph's niece and nephew used to call her when they were too little to say "Steph."
